Very Late Western Roman Empire & Those Who Tried To Save It. Subscribers Only (Currently 1670 Words)

Upon the death of the Emperor Avitus, there was a brief hope that normal service would resume. It was certain that the Senate and the people of Rome were happy that his reign had come to an end. Well, it would probably be fair to say, like many of these Late Western Roman Emperors, they failed through want or ability to bridge the two sides together. That is, the Roman Empire, which, by this stage, was Italy and some parts of Gaul. Avitus, for his part, had be seen as someone who had spent too much time trying to promote the Gallic people to positions of power, and naturally that did not go down well with those back in Rome. Avitus, should not be considered a bad emperor for this, in that, he would not be the first or last emperor to have failed to bridge the last remnants of the Western Roman Empire together.
